Meet Jessica Esch
I’m excited to be able to speak into your life today. My name is Jessica and I am the younger sister of the amazing Jenni Catron. Its exciting that I get to be apart of a community that wants to learn how to be the most amazing women leaders we can possibly be.
I have been a leader for as long as I can remember. From leading the kids in a game of “chase the boys” on the play ground to leading a staff of 50+ teens and young adults (that honestly are not much younger then me) to effectively running a business and servicing customers.
So how do I know if I’m a good leader? Here is a quote I found that I think keeps me in check:
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams
I forget that as a leader, I’m always being watched. So this year I am going to try to inspire others just by my actions.
So here’s a good question, “Do your actions inspire others to dream more?”

Ummm, pretty sure my actions don't inspires others…enough. That is something that is hard to gage, at least for me.
This is a hard one I don't feel like I inspire others, but it is a very nice thought. I do try to surround myself with people that inspire and push me to be ,do and become more , the someone I never thought possible.
Hopefully the more we press into dreams and becoming the person that God created us to be, then I think naturally others will follow because we all desire that best life that can only be found through him and we can't do it on our own. I also love the fact it seems contagious as one person grows then they can grow the person near them what a perfect plan God has given us.
Lisa, you inspire me all the time! I love you and Im so thankful for your friendship.
By the way, so excited that Sammy Mac made an appearance on our blog
That was me scrambling for a picture and utlilizing Facebook. She's lucky I didn't pick her Halloween pictures
I was actually going to tell you to use that one. I love it he looks so sweet
The Halloween one would have been funny :} sorta
Great question! I think the people who work with me day to day are probably not as inspired as I would hope. I think my busy frenzy can be less than inspiring – probably straight out stressful!! Thanks for the challenge Jes!
I think I am surprised when my actions inspire. I think that I am still pretty surprised that God has me in this place, serving him. How do I know I am a good leader? I suppose no one has quit yet nor changed churches due to me and my review was pretty good so I think I am hanging in there.
Wow, love that quote. I'm going to take some time to unpack that one! Indeed I aspire to inspire, but not quite sure how much I really do influence those I lead to dream more and to dream big – enough… Thanks for the leadership challenge, Jess.
Good question! I'm asking myself what one thing I can do to be a leader who inspires. The one thing I can do is start by being in the Word more than I have been–and inspired by it, renewing my mind–probably the best place for me to start. Speaking of which, I should go do that now because I haven't yet done that this morning. I echo Eve, thanks for the leadership challenge.
What a great quote.
My answer? Lord, I hope so.
I live to bring glory to God and pray, pray, pray like crazy that my life does just that.
Thanks for the site! I'll be back
Cindy, thanks for stopping in
I've been privileged to have a lot of leader around me that have done this for me over the last 10 years. I honestly think i really fail at this when my to do list gets long, i tend to be so task focused that i forget that there are people waiting to be inspired and that at every moment i am missing an opportunity to help them dream.
