I took this picture yesterday while working in my yard. One of my FAVORITE things to do is to be outside working in my flowerbeds! There is something soothing to my soul when I am able to get down in the dirt to pull weeds and reveal the beauty of the plants and flowers that remain.
It always amazes me how quickly those pesky weeds can return! Without taking the time to cultivate my garden, weeds will threaten to steal the beauty I have worked so hard to reveal! Being outside in the yard reminded me of the importance of not only cultivating my garden but the areas of my life that are most important to me.
To be a good wife, mom and friend I need to take the time to cultivate those relationships. To be an effective leader I need to constantly be cultivating my leadership potential. When I don’t take the time to improve and grow in the areas of my life I am most passionate about I give way to weeds that will rob me of my full potential.
Great leadership doesn’t just happen. Great leaders are constantly finding ways to grow. When we stop being intentional in our growth weeds of laziness or lack of vision tend to take over. It sounds simple in thought but growth does come with pain. You will have to work and train constantly to grow but beauty that is revealed in the end.
What ways do you cultivate your leadership garden?
By sharing with one another we can keep reaching for our full potential and beauty as leaders.

Well to me one of the most important things to do as a leader is to set specific goals. So each year I evaluate my 1 year and 5 year plan both personal and professional. I make my plan very specific and measurable ( with time frames I want each gola to be met)so I can see when and where I am meeting or not meeting my goals. I also plan for things that might get in the way and try to have a solution if this happens. I think in leadership it is important to know where you are going and what your vision is.If you don't have that, what you are really leading? I also try to read books on leadership and attend seminars and groups such as Cultivate Her. : )
Love this, Trish!
