Wisdom from Mom
Honor your first commitment – this can be difficult. Mom explained to me early on that there will always be something that seems bigger and better than my first commitment. As her daughter, she probably knew this would need to be drilled into my brain. If you make a commitment, keep it. If you look at your calendar and see you have one night that week with nothing planned, don’t fill it! For some, downtime is simple; for others, it’s a struggle. From past experiences, it’s easy to back out of something or “forget” if I’m exhausted. Start noticing how much you can handle and remember to factor in time for yourself. This will keep your sanity intact if nothing else.
Don’t worry about things you can’t control – Mom says this to me all the time. If I’m not careful, I’ll worry myself into misery. Worry is consuming, thus I’m learning to pray constantly for peace. Also, chanting this helps: “I’m a warrior, not a worrier” (kidding…sort ofJ). Life will be messy. If it isn’t yet, ooooh get ready and remember when something surpasses our control, breathe. Don’t let it take away your joy.
These little gems have helped me live better.
“May the Lord bless you and keep you; Make his face shine upon you and give you peace” Numbers 6:24-26
(And that is the way my mom ends almost every conversation)

Wisdom from mom… the BEST! Although my mom has already gone on to be with Jesus, I still hear the gems of wisdom she shared with me years ago.
Thanks for sharing!
Hello! I'm glad to find this blog (from another post). I totally agree and love this post. God has been teaching me tons about "narrowing the boundaries of my life." It was an early lesson in my "live with flair" project. I called it: How to Gather in Your Life. http://livewithflair.blogspot.com/2010/04/how-to-…
"Gathering in increased my energy and my capacity to be fully present" – that is beautifully put and i feel the exact same way; would have never been able to express it as well as you did in your blog! glad you found our blog and thanks for the comment! there are some amazing women who write here – so i encourage you to keep reading! thanks so much and hopefully you & i will continue to "gather IN"
I totally agree with the other comments. Thanks for encouraging us to read this post. VZ 58
